It's a tactic to create a crisis and artificially inflate the price. If you notice, there are only two stocks being being bidded up high. Both are from the same seller. The top bidder for both is the same bidder.

I have never liked the device to begin with. a) I don't see the need. If I need to shoot my semi-auto rifle, I can do so at more accuracy and a little slower; b) I think it flirts with the NFA, and at anytime, there can be a new BATF head who writes a new opinion on these devices, and whammo, a subpoena d.t. on every dealer who ever sold one...
