Colt Combat Unit Carbine (LE6960) for $999, cheapest I’ve seen. I bought one from this site and it arrived with no issues.

You are right. I overlooked the word journal. I know what a gas block is, but what's a journal?

I've also found it isn't easy to find the actual gas port size on different barrels from different manufacturers. They don't seem to list the port size very often.

It sure does, but that is a typo. I received a 100% 6960 as pictured and saved several hundred dollars in the process. (I added sights and lower section of picatinny)

Not your typical .308 ammunition, but I just ordered a case because of the price. At a price of $125 for 1,000 rounds, this will work well for our needs in shooting close in and for pictures.

    Product Description
    • 7.62x51mm Caliber
    • DAG Manufacture
    • Berdan Primed
    • Plastic Projectile
    • Plastic Case
    • Non-Corrosive
    • 50rd Box

These lead-free rounds are frangible and will fragment on hard surfaces that might cause a lead-core bullet to ricochet. A special coated copper jacket surrounds a compressed tungsten powder core to reduce the bullet’s velocity, producing lower recoil and minimizing muzzle flash, thus allowing faster second shot placement. The dense tungsten core allows it to penetrate less dense materials with ease, while still remaining frangible. While lead-core munitions are susceptible to over-penetration, these rounds have 745 ft. lbs. of energy combinedwith a 100% kinetic energy drop, making them the safest yet most lethal CQB/Training round manufactured anywhere in the world today.

I assume that stuff will cycle a semi-auto action, but is it reloadable?

Yes, my post was tongue in cheek even though the SOG ad didn't mention semi-auto function. If it was boxer primed I'm sure you could find a way to reload low power loads, but no joy.

At the risk of turning into a shill, Arms Unlimited has a sorta-interesting-looking mag carrier for $35.

Any of you guys have experience with this to give it a Legit or Crap rating? My briefcase-AR carries a couple spare mags onboard for Immediate Action, but being able to chuck a mag carrier alongside it in the briefcase would allow a better chance of the spare ammo coming along in case some Daeshbag or other case of Lethal Aggression Disorder insists on making me "provide treatment."*
*Reference to a T-shirt an M.D. had made for his entire LFI class that Mas Ayoob once mentioned. Pic was a prescription pad, bearing the words "Dr. Ayoob's prescription for Lethal Aggression Disorder: 158gr Pb, 2x. Repeat as necessary."

Stick, my only reservation about those is their choice of color (which is a funny thing, given how I'm usually Mr. "Not Picky About Color")--if memory serves, Blue is usually for Exercise, Inert and other training materials while those are clearly live ammo. That said, I wish I could get ANYTHING useful in 5.56 for $125 a K-count!

Isn't tungsten-core usually considered "Too Dangerous For Pissant Proles" AP, though? I could be misunderstanding or misremembering...
