Also, mileage may vary but I've seen a number of reports, and it seems to have been true for me in what trials I've done, that for some reason Diamondhead irons work well for bad eyes. (Helped in my case by the fact that my brain processes straight lines and angles better than curves for some reason.)

I have bad vision as well. I ended up with a DI Optical FC1. Sharpest dot I've seen in a optic so far. There isn't a lot of info or reviews of them out but those who have them really like them. Tim from Military Arms Channel speaks highly of them.

Have four of them (in ADM QD mounts) on four different ARs, and not one red dot because of it.

Interesting sight... if only I could find a mount 5mm lower than no-riser factory. How is it in CQB and "Knockaround"--would it take the thumps and bumps of being attached to a maybe-not-combat-but-def-NOT-gently-handled Bugout Bag/briefcase PDW?

The extra rail height due to mounting on the CASV piggyback is a non issue, just don't use the included sight riser if you want or use it and enjoy the less cluttered sight picture as I do (cannot stand having sights in in my optic's sight picture).

As for my experiences with them, here's a link to my experiences with my first one, which is why I got 3 more:

None of them have given me any pause to doubt their ability.

Insure you get the Spitfire 1x model number 1301, not the AR1x model. The AR1x model loses the metal cap lanyards, has no ability to adjust height thanks to the integral AA battery compartment in base, has no ability to utilize the ADM QD mount because of the integral battery compartment, and push button controls that are also in an inconvenient location.

I'm pretty sure that 1301 model is out of production. Dealers blew them out of stock last year for $199.

Pity. Standard practice in both Engineering and Management, "if it ain't broke **** WITH IT 'TIL IT IS!"

I have severe astigmatism in both eyes; the problem is apparently far more extreme for me than what most experience. Red dots are totally unusable to me, even with my Rx glasses, as even 1 or 2 MOA dots become this 12+ MOA, streaky starburst thing. For me, even the dots in the P4Xi and Leupold's Firedot bloom some when they're adjusted bright enough to be functional for fast shooting outdoors, and yes, that's with my Rx lenses on and with the diopters properly adjusted. But they are at least well within the usable range, and the distortion is minimally distracting, so for me the 1-4x is still the best compromise. I like the P4Xi the most, but the eyebox at 4x is a little on the unforgiving side. The Leupold's minimum magnification is something like 1.4x and it tops out at 3.9x so it's not an ideal choice, but it is nice because it's so damn light... in an Aero SPR mount I think mine comes in at 13.1oz total.

I also have 1x prisms, but the Spitfire AR is almost 12oz with the battery, and the reticle isn't daylight bright. I like the reticle in the two Leupold Tactical Prismatics I have, but their battery life kinda sucks, they're not daylight bright, and they're neither as fast as a red dot or as versatile as an LPVO, so the prism sights just don't do it for me. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

If I could manage to get by with a red dot, the T2, RMR and MRO would be on all of my short guns, but my eyes just suck so it is what it is. On the bright side, I found that I'm unintentionally part of the "mini recce" club which makes me pretty cool I guess.

With all that said, Primary Arms has said many times over the last year that they're working on an ACSS 1x prism sight. If they do that one right, I'll definitely be in line for one. I'm not a huge PA fan but I think they have the ability to knock one out of the park, especially if it comes with an etched reticle similar to what's in the Holosun ACSS.
