Might have been the conversion. I've been lucky enough to get trigger time on a 42 a few times and they ran without issue. I also think 8mm would be cheaper than .308 anyway wouldn't it?

Yep, and if I am going to carry approx. 25 lbs. give me a M240B instead. I like the M60 for nostalgic reasons, I'm a sucker for 70s / 80s vintage but man I'd have hated to carry or depend on it.

While it's not like a GPMG is ever going to be "handy" to tote or utilize, which one would more closely lean towards handy? An M240B or an M60 in E4 or E6 configuration? I've done the original M60 thing in the military and agree it was a PITA to maintain, but I thought several things were improved after the E3 version?

WOW! Just looked up Maremont's and upgraded E4/E6's on MG Price Guides and they're up close to $60K!
What if this whole crusade's a charade?

We had the E3. It was a few pounds lighter. I loved shooting it. From what I’ve heard the 240 is heavier but a much better MG.

I may have to change my vote from Ultimax to the new KAC LAMG.
