    Not an expert, but... that looks like a giant size version of a car suspension bushing. I know some tanks have a torsion bar suspension system. Could this be a bushing for a torsion bar? That would potentially also explain the torsional failure, if the bushing stopped letting the bar rotate freely and started being subject to the torsion intended for the steel bar.

    I don't know what it is, but I'll help narrow the field by saying it's not from an M2A2 ODS BFV. Never saw anything like that on a tracked vehicle from 2007-2010.
