HK PSG1 trigger group in MP5 question

I know there was a "sniper/DM" variant of the MP5SD back in the day and I have a semiauto 94 that is about to be remade as an SD. I know that the PSG-1 trigger group will work in the 94/MP5 with the 9mm ejector and I recently picked up a PSG-1 trigger group for a steal.

The issue is the 308 hammer spring is hell to cock in the little rifle. I know the PSG-1 hammer has a 2stage spring to it, but I have no understanding past that. Can the hammer spring be replaced with a 9mm one to make cocking it a little easier?

If so will this mess up the trigger pull?

With respect to the HK94 sniper variant, it had a standard trigger group, a SG1 buttstock, a flash hider on the end of the 16" barrel, a harris bipod attached to the handguard and a claw mount scope.

There also existed a SP89 which featured a claw mount scope and used a PSG1 pistol grip on a standard trigger frame.

I don't think an actual PSG1 trigger group has ever been adapted to a 9mm platform.

    Thanks for the reply

I know the PSG-1 trigger has not officially been incorporated into the 9mm platform, I guess my question was does anyone know if there are any issues with changing the hammer spring. I've read on HKpro of guys putting the PSG-1 trigger in a 94 for a better semiauto trigger, but only saw mention of the ejector replacement.

This is what I would like to do, but a modern version.

Keep in mind people on HKPro do lots of things, some that maybe they shouldn't because they are messing with clones anyway. That said, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. I'd personally go with a SG1 trigger group but that's just me.

I never saw a Hk94SG1 in person. Just the pictures in the Hk literature back in the day. I want to say they marketed it as a counter sniper rifle. According to what I read on HKPRO the PSG1 trigger pack would probably work if you changed the ejector and hammer spring.

Same here, never saw either one in person, just catalogs. Would be kinda cool to have one now though.

I saw one at the Ft Lauderdale gunshow in the late 90s.

    A HK94 PSG1.

Thats for people that take their 9mm shooting pretty daggone serious.

I'm not hating. The mere concept is such that I can only marvel and want a turn.

Pretty sure it was designed for urban law enforcement in the pre "patrol carbine" area when everyone was just carrying 9mm handguns and 870s and only the SWAT guys had scoped .308 rifles. The thinking was that in a big city 9mm was more accountable than .308 rounds so it filled the "short distance, precise shot" niche.

The HK firearm that truly baffles me is the SG1 series in .308 and 5.56 where you have an accurized rifle in a DMR role but with a select fire option. Somehow full auto sniper rifle always struck me as an oxymoron.

For me the odd duck award goes to the SL6a2. Same as the SL6 semi auto rifle but with a two round burst selector and flashhider. Sorry for the thread drift.
