    The CZ-75

I was watching a "Gun Stories" episode detailing the history and design of the CZ-75 pistol. Until seeing that episode I was unaware that this particular gun is considered one of the significant handgun designs of the 20th century, and one of the original so-called "Wonder Nines". Even Jeff Cooper had grudging respect for it (even though it was a 9mm).

Evidently, the designer was called out of retirement and given 100% control of design and manufacture of the new gun. Since it was the Cold War, the design was considered Secret and couldn't be manufactured for export at the time - although everyone else seems to have profited from the design. Guess it goes to show (generally but not always, I guess) that one talented designer with a vision gets it right more often than a committee does.

In terms of historical significance and design innovation, some have put it on par with the 1911 although that seems to be a contentious point. Fair assessment or no?

I think the 1911 is 'the' iconic single action pistol. I think the CZ-75 is 'the' iconic SA/DA pistol. But that is just my opinion.

Jeff Cooper, who is widely quoted as saying 'the DA/SA auto pistol is the answer to a question no one has asked' borrowed heavily from the CZ-75's design in putting the Bren Ten, the da/sa he endorsed, into production.

    Very significant pistol.

I've had an eye out for a CZ 75 platform for a while
Probably going to get a shadow 2
Everyone needs to have a 1911, Glock, browning hp and a CZ 75

Check, Check, Check, Check, I'd add a full-sized revolver to the list.

    ... and drop the Glock
Given that 10-shots are a group and 5-shots may be a favorable trend ... know that just one good 3-shot group can make you an instant internet superstar!

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

While the 75 is still legendary .... the Bren is a legendary flop. Even the attempted resurrection of it in the Fortis didn't take off.

Absolutely, Cooper even admitted there were mistakes made. Used Cooper and the Bren Ten as an example despite it's production/design problems because for a good while he was very influential in the arms world and he recognized the excellence of the CZ-75's design.

    The CZ75 is a classic and a very good DA/SA, Hi-Cap 9mm.
Ranks up there with the BHP/P-35, although it's substantially larger.

Pick up a Glock 17 and then pick up an all-steel CZ-75. You can definitely feel the difference.
