Don't be surprised if the replacement recoil spring does nothing to reduce the recoil. AK's are engineered to be over-gassed because the gun can take it and (I guess) over-gassing ensures reliability. You may find that AK's "just shoot like that."

Every AK I've seen has launched brass into low earth orbit.

How do you tell if water is too wet?
The red head horse chick too crazy?
your HK is damaging brass too much?
Your Pontiac V8 leaking too much from the rear main seal?

I first shot real foreign weapon fam 7.62 AKs since the 80s and 5.45 ones since the 90s.
I have owned semi auto versions of both since the 90s.
I have Chinese, Bulgarian, Yugo, Romanian AKs in stamped, thick stamped, and milled receivers.
From SBR to longer than typical barrels.
I think I have half a dozen 7.62 AKs, and one in 5.45 and one in 5.56.
And basically a Long action AK, a PSL, in 7:62x54r.
They all slap brass like a secondary projectile to just outside grenade range.
If my AK was dropping brass right next to me in a neat little pile I would be feeling confused and scared.
