It’s a terrible idea for a very specific instance, in which case it is still a terrible idea.

I think what they are getting at is that some people regret pinning just a flash hider to a 14.5. A suppressor is orders of magnitude more costly, thus much greater potential for regret. Plus you don’t get to switch the can around to other guns, which is appealing to some people.
Edit: you might be interested in an integrally suppressed upper. I would try googling around for that.

Yeah I get that you can't switch around, and it's a total pain to clean the bore but that is acceptable to me and I did my due diligence in the reasearch I put into the building of my carbine. I also feel suppressor's are like potato chips, you can't have just one. I also have a 14.5 with a pinned muzzle brake and definitely like it and will do another in the future when I get through my present build
