    What range to zero subgun/PCC?

What do you consider the best range to zero a pistol caliber subgun or carbine?

I’ve heard some people say 25 yards and some say 50 yards. 25 yards makes sense because the short range of a pistol cartridge and is a common range to zero handguns. However I feel the handguns are zeroed at closer range more because of sight difficulty rather than it being the correct or best trajectory.

I will be zeroing my CZ Scorpion pistol tomorrow. Probably at 50 yards unless anyone has a good or reason to use a 25 yard zero.

50 sounds good. That gives you something like +2 inches at 25 yards. So just use a 6 o'clock hold up close and you'll be good. When I was MP5 trained in the early 90's the HK qual course was out to 100 yards so a 50 yard zero is not that odd. David

I zero'd my Zenith mp5 at 50 yards, and my MPX as well. Makes sense.

I would either try different zeros out, or use a ballistic solver to find the range that gives you the flattest trajectory out to the range you deem as max useable.

There was a great thread that talked about zero ranges for red dot equipped pistolaz. That might be a good place to search if you have a short barrel.

When I had an MP5 it was 50 on semi. Factory zeroed so no correction but know hold closer you got, esp on burst.
Pretty much same for Colt SMG.

Never mechanically corrected an MP5 and dont want to.

What is the purpose of the afore mentioned sub gun?

The PCC I use for competition, I zero at 50 yds because the bays are 50yds deep and shooting plate racks can be a real btch.
Otherwise I use 25 yds for HD, CQB.

    25 Yards
You are only going to be about 1.5 inches off from zero to 100 yards.
POA/POI should be dead on at 25 and 75 yards.

Great topic, as I am just about to go zero my CZ Scorpion. My stamp just came in : ) As such, off I go to the range. It seems that a 25 yard zero makes the most sense after watching the above video. That would be ideal for Home defense.
