    From the picture it looks like you have room to slide the scope forward in the mount some or is that an illusion?

    Yeah i can still do that. I guess i have about a inch i can slide it forward.

    By design you should be able to run that first clamp nut out to the first slot without a problem, that's the point of a cantilevered mount. If they are making contact I'd look at correcting the handguard.

    So i returned that mount and bought a standard instead of the extended. So it’s possible even the mount was very so slightly out of spec. With this one it’s still tight in that area, but i can slide a piece of paper now between the mount and handguard. Is that enough space or does the handguard at the barrel nut flex enough to hit the mount? I can at least see light through it. Here is a picture.

    You should be good to go. What was your first mount model number? 05-381B is the 30mm ext in black. Is it possible the first was a sr25/ar10 mount?
