    Question Opinions, Please?

I really don't want to build another AR at this time. I was looking at my email this AM and CDNN is having their Black Friday sale. I saw this AR and read its features and it looked good. Opinions?

The feature list looks good, but I'm skeptical that Savage has magically become a top-quality AR assembler. (I'll admit I don't know of any specific defects with them.)

You can get a Colt 6920 for around $800 these days at CDNN and elsewhere. You can also get Ruger and S&W recreational grade ARs around $500 at CDNN, and I think I saw a Del-Ton AR for close to $400 somewhere. Black Friday deals may be even better. I would either go for quality with a Colt or similar, or go for functional at a lower price with the others mentioned. Although I'm aware of reported problems with the cheap Rugers and S&W I would still give better odds on function and dimensional accuracy for those two than for Savage.

While I own and enjoy some older Savage weapons, it is hard to recommend an AR in today’s market which is using Blackhawk components and doesn’t have the muzzle device installed correctly in the product pictures.

Not sure if the MD is an A2 or not, But if it is it is clocked 90 degrees to the left from where it should be. Not something giving me warm and fuzzies.

By and by, Savages bolt actions seem pretty decent. Got a .22lr semi that shoots quite well. In ARs there are others I'd prefer though.

Assuming it is an A2 flash hider (their promo video shows an A2) the solid portion should be oriented down. The way the rifle in the picture is oriented you should see the bird cage.

Additionally they are advertising it as a 5.56 while technically it is a .223 Wylde.

ETA: Saw Kain's post. In consumer .22's I'd go with Marlin and Savage for accuracy. Likewise, not sure that transfers to AR's.

There's that plus I wouldn't give Cheaper Than Dirt the peanuts out of my shit.

Why even consider something like this when you can get a Colt lower for $250 and put what ever upper you want on it?
