LMT M16 Enhanced Bolt 5.56 Compatible in Standard Colt M16 Carrier?

    Hi Folks,

I am in the market for a new couple of bolts, and really like the look and stats of the LMT Enhanced Bolt. I have heard that when this bolt is paired with LMT's enhanced carrier, it is especially suited for heavily-gassed shorter rifles, and can cause reliability problems in rifles with the 20" barrel and rifle-length gas system or the midlength gas system when run on a 16- or 14.5-inch barrel.

I hope someone can confirm that the LMT enhanced bolt is fully compatible with a standard M16 bolt carrier, and that it will not cause any reliability issues in a rifle that is not overgassed (mine are a 20" with rifle gas and rifle receiver extension, and 16" midlength also with rifle receiver extension).

    Thanks!

I think they run fine in anything. I'm running the e-carrier in my 18" rifle gas suppressed spr.

The LMT enhanced carrier adds durability, but not always reliability in a carbine gassed/ carbine action 5.56 AR. The lower cyclic rate of the rifle action does improve reliability with the LMT enhanced carrier enough to a point that it is preferred over the standard carrier in combinations that do not have issues with rounds not being properly presented in the magazine for the bolt to feed in the forward stroke. The combinations with issues with that would not benefit in reliability with the LMT enhanced carrier, MRBS wouldn't favor that.

He's asking about the enhanced bolt, not the carrier or carrier group.
