    You just need the upper and ammo, you can even use your current 5.56 BCG to save that cost.

    I don't have a low cost brand to recommend. For barrel length 9-10.x is where I would start for general purpose. Down to 8" run great, shorter seems to be a bit less consistent.

    That’s what I was thinking, having the SBR lower comes in handy. Since it won’t see hard use I might as well just use one of my other BCG’s/CH’s on it when I want to use it.

    Probably not going to work with a can. You need an 8.25" barrel with a 7" rail. The BCM rail has the little wings sticking forward on the sides so I'd look for an 8.5" barrel.

    So this is a 7.5" barrel with a 7" SLR rail. Works fine with a sig can:

    To the OP I would recomend if you build an upper to get an adjustable gas block (I prefer the SLR) if you want to run it suppressed with the most comfort.

    The mount and can length back over the barrel does vary from different manufacturers. AAC and SF wouldn't work on your upper, I have not played with a Sig silencer yet.

    That is an 8" rail and 9" barrel in the picture. As you can see, the entire threaded portion of the barrel protrudes from the rail. This should mount cans from almost all different manufacturers.

    Knowing a carbine length rail is actually around 7.2" you would need an 8.2" barrel to get the same fit. Mid length is 9.2" rail, 10.2" barrel.

    Your rifle is either one or a combination of below;
    Sig can doesn't sit as far back over the threads
    Rail is not actually the full 7.2" carbine length
    Barrel is longer than 7.5"

    I am not trying to be argumentative, I just want to help people get a combo that works. A barrel 1" longer than the rail is where to start.

    Option a. The barrel is exactly 7.5 inches and the rail is exactly 7 inches long. Sig cans only require 1/2 inch clearance.
