Hey guys, I am currently working on a project to get an affordable tubes cummerbund made, and wanted to get some opinions form everyone.
There is really only one (to my knowledge) viable replacement tubes cummerbund out there and that is the one from First Spear. It retails for about $150 and is full featured. This is pretty pricey considering the Velocity Systems LEPC retails for about $170, and the APC for about $220. And the STT from SKD is only $200, might as well buy a whole new carrier. Also a lot of guys don't like the tubes on the shoulders of the STT/strandhogg and this is also whats leading us down this road.
We are looking at under $100, if it can't be done for that price then its not worth doing IMO. Looking at having an elastic cummerbund with integral mag pouches and a JPC/Scarab style made. Something lightweight, slim, allows for carry of essential gear, is quick to get on, easy to replace on existing platforms and is relatively cost effective.
So... Does a reasonably priced replacement tubes cummerbund make sense and is that something that you guys would be interested in? What features would you like to see and what features aren't necessary. We have a lot of feedback from LE guys in the field, but you guys always have good insight and wanted to get peoples honest opinions and see if there is any interest in a project like this. And what it should and shouldn't be.
