Go look at Canada or Australia immigration. Canada has a web test you can take which will score your chances of getting in. Hint: many who threaten to become a Canadian citizen couldn't.

I got the F***yougram even though my girlfriend's folks are willing to take care of me and all my housing/food/etc. costs as long as I take care of their little girl, even though I specified "Temporary, Under 6 Month" stay.

To be clear I'm not saying that Canadia has exactly the right policy on immigration.

They may have their equivalent of diversity / Asylum loopholes.

But the idea that they have free and open immigration is just flat out wrong. And easy to demonstrate. The majority of the British Commonwealth countries have very similar policies. Specifically including Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean countries, etc.

I was joking with a Montrealian friend of mine about the results of my test. He said he could sponsor me and get us in.

But the idea that somehow the US is fascist/racist because we want to enforce our border immigration laws is just stupid and clearly misinformed. And we can't allow it to be perpetuated like the left is doing without challenge.

The biggest positive for chain migration is the immediate non governmental support system available to them. No need for any services as their family is the service. I’ll take 10 generations if engineers, doctors, carpenters, plumbers... over any individual who has no support system but the bloody government if the SHTF.

You want immigrants off welfare, WIC, CHIP? You don’t do that by parachuting in individuals. And you don’t do it by letting those who are takers sponsor new arrivals. You do it by bringing in people whose families can support and help assimilate new arrivals into our culture.

Who said they'd all be on some sort of social assistance? Let in only those who have reason to be here and can provide for themselves. Do away with programs that incentivise not working and living on the dole.
Obviously all bigger picture issues. Like I said this isn't 50 years ago anymore.

I know the discussion is trending to motivations, immigration, etc.

But... Having been a little careless with extremely flammable solids once, and with an oxy-acetylene torch once (I'm a fast learner), I am betting a gigantic bottle rocket/pipe bomb strapped to his stomach until it burned out gave this guy a chance to really think about the error of his ways for a minute. Although I have a good idea how it may have felt, I am thankful it ended the way it did.
