    Magpul contract award

    Congrats to Magpul. You guys make good stuff:

    Magpul Industries Corp.,* Austin, Texas, has been awarded a $12,792,000 firm-fixed-price, definite-quantity contract for magazine cartridges. This was a competitive acquisition with three responses received. This is a one-time buy with no option periods. Locations of performance are Texas and Wyoming, with a Sept. 10, 2018, performance completion date. Using military services are Army, Air Force and Marine Corps. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2018 defense working capital funds. The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, Columbus, Ohio (SPE7L4-18-C-0028).

    This is a DLA contract, basically just a big purchase.
    DLA acquisitions are for items already with an NSN, the "competitive" part is just comparative pricing. Even if Magpul had lost the bid, they still would have made the sale.

    Hmmm... if we assume wholesale to be half retail like general nondurable consumer goods (price doubles every level, manufacturer->distributor->retail, if I'm recalling correctly from my Business-major days), based on around $15 retail, that would suggest around 1.7 million mags as a lowball.

    Or, as some preppers would call that number, "a really good start." lol

    Didn't the DoD spend $50k on a hammer? $12M should work out to be about 50,000 magazines lol

    A store down the street has pallet sized bins of black m3s for $9.99 at least once a month. And $8.99 on special sales. Has had the old fde for the same.
