ETA: I was on his side during the Ten Commandment Law Suits. They do serve as a reminder of the origin of our laws. Opening Court with state-sponsored prayer, not so much, I can see the issue there.
Freedom of religion isn't freedom from religion. While I'm not saying that you have to ascribe to religion, to be blind to the historical role that religion has taken in our society and the law in particular is revisionist history.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.
