"There are guys here whose opinions or “read” on current events carry far, far,FAR more weight than the so-called experts on Fox News, or any broadcast news for that matter. Some of them have been mentioned, many have not.
They are more “read on” to current events and they are just plain ol’ have more smarts than the suits. Their intel is solid and reliable."

    Fact.

I would only add that GD is my "sanity oasis" in a sea full of forum tards. We all know what we don't want this forum to become and I think it's pretty self policing. I used to be on every forum, now pretty much just this one. If I actually have a HK question I usually hit my reference library rather than HKPro because despite the "on topic only" nature of that forum it is a mix of experts and clone owners so answers vary and informed corrections are not always instant.

And of course, if it helps I hereby volunteer my services as "moderator" of GD.

I thought I was the only one. I click on M4Carbine while cooking breakfast and drinking my first cup of coffee. If it isn't news in GD, it's really not news.

Same here, soon as I hear about "astonishing news" I come here to find out what details they aren't telling me about. Generally it becomes less astonishing. So much of news today isn't simply reporting events but editorial news where they tell you part of the story and how YOU should feel about it. I really don't need these people to tell me when I should be angry, sad or sympathetic. Just tell me everything that happened and I can figure out the rest for myself.

Wish I could find THAT news channel.

    You already have.

The raw intel or raw data is here. I don’t mind going through the opinions posted because they offer different perspective, not a narrative as you know. I can’t count how often a guy has posted a vid and let that speak for itself. Just the video. No diatribe accompanying.
I believe I’ve even seen you do this if I’m not mistaken.
“GD News. Raw Intel. Raw Data. Many Perspectives”
    Should be our tag line.

Might have to raise site sponsorship to $100/month to pull that off.

The reason I've stayed out of GD and away from the site in general for so long is the few reasons someone gets feedback on their post is if they make their comments loud, really snarky or controversial. If not, it seems like we're talking at people instead of with them and may as well be talking to ourselves. Or at least that's the way I feel about my posts lately. It seems like there are certain cliques of members that stick together and only chat with one another.

On social media you can converse with just about anybody and anything. Sure, there are plenty of jerks and idiotic posts but there are more than enough civil agreement and thought sharing to make up for it.
