I got to play with the ATACR 1-8 almost a year ago. It is amazing. No time with the cheaper NX8, but I intend to get at least one of each.

Can you compare it to your kahles as a frame of reference for me? As of now, the kahles 1-6 is my favorite LPVO I have ever used or owned.

Here are some comparison specs of the ATACR 1-8 and the Kahles16i . The price is $2744. vs $1999. - Weight is 21oz vs 16.9oz (4oz dif)- FOV at 1x is 96.1 ft vs 138.8 ft - Nightforce FOV at 8x is 13.1ft - Kahles at 6x is 26.2 ft. - eyebox at top and bottom magnification: Kahles is pretty decent and easy to use - ATACR 1-8 eyebox ? - Scope length - the Nightforce is .440" thousands or a little under a half shorter.

I will when I get it. I didn't own the Kahles at the time when I got to try the ATACR. There were also some slight differences compared to the release model, like it had the awesome zerohold turret from the 4-16x42 ATACR. Sad to see that isn't offered, although it's not really necessary with the Horus style reticle.

Nope, I thought that was a little odd as well.

The difference in FOV is huge. For me that is far more important than the minimal gain of added magnification.

Seriously. Why isn't the NX8 capped?

Seriously. I wonder if the internals are the same as the NXS (aside from erector ratio) and the ZS was just an easy addition? I would think that those interested in the 34mm ATACR would want to dial as well. At any rate, I’m happy to finally see these from NF and I’m sure they’ll be great. I’m interested in replacing my Mk6 with a NX8 MIL.

Because NX8 doesn’t offer BDC reticle
