I'm glad the guys that can take a joke are out this Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas to both of you
In all seriousness 1168, I get the 25m thing. I don't understand it given what's been posted, but I get why people do it. I know folks who zero at 25 because they've only got access to an indoor range.
Why do the loudest do the least?
On magnified optics I utilize a 200yd zero and on red dots I utilize a 100yd zero.

I read a lot, more than I shoot now days. Years ago when I went to the 50 yard zero it was really for no other reason than that's what was used at several of the classes I attended. It made sense vs. the 25 that I had been trained on and used for years. I don't think I even realized the 200 was attached to the 50 when I started using it! So for me all Aimpointed carbines get zeroed at 50 and verified at 200, with varying results. All magnified optics get 100 yard zeros but also get walked out to 500 or even a 1000 if the optic supports it. Currently I only own 3 with magnified optics and only one is a 5.56. It's been awhile since I've shot at any real distance so all dope adjustments would have to be from my log book vs. memory.
Question, is there any real advantage to change that up at this point in life? I've been reading on the 100 and see it's possible advantages.

I use a 100 yard zero for everything. Irons, red dots, VP scopes...it all works the same. I know what my hold overs are and what my unders are and they're pretty much the same across the board.
When I learned this zero and its advantages I figured, why not? The down side is, for me, I haven't taken it past 300 yards, so I don't know where I'm at in regards to my holds. 300 yards and in, I can't miss.
I voted for 50/200. Mine are actually only zeroed at 50 though. I plan on using the 100 yard zero when I get a chance to get out. If it ever warms up around here. I really enjoyed Failure2Stop's "zen of the 100 yard zero "thread. It makes sense to me. I'll probably leave my PCC zeroed at 50 though.
Fortunately I do have access to a 200 yard range. Unfortunately I don't have access to anything longer than that. For AR irons I have one with a Matech, one with a carry handle, and one with a cut-down carry handle, and for those I have zeros at farther distances by adjusting the range wheels, but those zeros are only theoretical until I can check them/fine tune them on a longer range. In the past I've had good results using the range adjustments on M14 and M1A. In the coming year I will probably gain access to a 400 yard range. What would be even better would be a longer range that is surveyed in meters.
