Thoughts on the Remington 700 AAC-SD in 6.5Creedmoor? (Updated on Post #16)

Any one here have first had expirance with the Remington 700 AAC-SD in 6.5Creedmoor? I have been thinking of getting one. I an familiar with Remington rifles. I have an extra Timney 510 trigger and already own a Vortex HS-T 4x16x44 scope. It would be an entry level rifle for up to 1000 yards. The LGS has a few for $699.

    Thanks for your thoughts...

My long-range build is based on a Remington 700 action. Very accurate and no issues to report. How long is the barrel? And does it come with the Hogue stock? If so, I’d make plans to change it out. Just one guy’s opinion.

Have you already compared the Remington to a Tikka? You should. Tikka T3 is the new Rem 700.

Remington... You worked hard for that $700, right...Spend it on something good.

    Find a Tikka.

Definitely go for a Tikka. If you want a "tactical" one get the CTR. With factory loaded 130 Bergers from Federal, my CTR shoots sub 1/4 MOA. My last group was 0.16 MOA. The action is incredible as well.

Like the others said, get a Tikka. Unless you want to dump a bunch of money into the 700 to get it right (like I did), in which case you'd be better off just finding an action to build off of.

Until Remington is bought out by someone interested in more than making a buck off a tarnished reputation, I'd pass.

Just make sure you stop by the 5.11 store afterwards.

In all seriousness, do your homework there are better options.

    OP here...

Well, gentlemen I am screwed. I looks like I'll have to stop by the 5.11 store, kind of! I mentioned to my brother that I had started this thread and he spilled the beans! This was his reply, " Your wife bought a Remington 700 AAC-SD in 6.5 Creedmoor and she does not plan on doing an shooting with it!"! I will be getting a Remington 6.5Creedmoor for Christmas that my brother helped pic out.

    Bless her heart...!
