Thank you. Maybe we are seeing a trend of Making AR's Great Again (MARGA).

That needs to be on a ballcap.

I guess I should say I don't mind either way. I've just never had a problem with a castle nut working itself loose, but, I do put a fair amount of elbow grease in when tightening them down.

Mrgunsngear....what a trip! Didn't know you were a member here. Been a subscriber of yours for a while now (the corner of that deck looked very familiar lol). How cool. Going to make a video on your Stag? I should be heading out again sometime this weekend with mine to see what I can do with her new trigger and some Hornady.

I prefer mine to be properly staked per TDP.

The 'argument' I've heard for not staking is for ease of stock changing.

Like, who goes around changing their stocks like socks?

Well, in this case, I actually had to remove the castle nut so I could remove the ambidextrous endplate that came with the Stag that would dig in to the web of my hand when gripping the rifle. I don't mount my slings on the endplate anyway so I replaced it with a standard one.

How does having a properly staked castle nut prevent you from removing the receiver extension and replacing the endplate? Just punch the staking back and go to work.

    "ease"
Not my argument. One I heard someone else say.

Like I said, prefer mine staked. To each their own.

Myself and others who have been to training courses have seen them come loose several times. I have seen it overseas as well with PMC's and their weapons.

In the last 2 or 3 months both my Ruger AR556 and Sport II castle nuts have come loose.

You mean like this hot mess?
They really shouldnt let children play with screwdrivers around their ARs during assembly!

This is the only scratching, I mean, staking job on my Sport II
