i just ran my KAC 14.5 cut down for the first time (done by a well known smith)today, with KAC lower and the original KAC buffer for a 16 inch bbl. I had failure to eject like crazy most I could get was two rounds off, 55 grain american eagle brass. Tried 2 different magazines, one GI, one Magpul.
Also on half of the failure to ejects, also had double feeds. Tried chambering one round at a time and it would function and eject fine.
Go with a lighter weight buffer?

You had real double feeds or the fake ones? Did anyone measure the gas port? I'm going to guess it may need to be opened some.

    I can help fix this.
Self-diagnosing and trial and error is not going to land you where I can quickly.

Since the 11.5 and 14.5 are designed around an H2 buffer (counter to the far more common 16" and 18" guns), we throw it in.
Do the 14.5” and 16” guns have different gas systems?

Update: Decided to keep the standard buffer tube and run the KAC supplied buffer. Went to the range today and had no problems whatsoever with all types of ammo (mix of Tula, PMC, Wolf Gold, IMI) on both the 14.5 and the 16 upper. I'll be sticking with this setup, thanks for the advice guys!.
