I guess you got me on that one. Assuming they mean kilograms, the 553 weighs 6.79Lbs. An SBR Mutant is listed as 6.7Lbs.

BTW, the Galil Ace is listed as 6Lbs and is setup more like an AK than the Mutant.

Good point. I reconsidered and decided on a 16" barrel in order to make use of the "regular" 7.62x39 BDC such as in the ACOG or ACSS scopes. Still you brought up something I had not thought of.

Personally I wouldn't quite rule out a shorter barrel, if your heart is set on it. The beauty of the 7.62 x 39 round is that the lost in speed from a 16" barrel down to a 10.5" barrel is around 200 fps. Inside of 300 yds that's not going to make that big of a difference...
