First Supressor: Griffin Recce 5 or Liberty Mystic X - Advice needed
I'm buying my first can, my current rifle is a 14.5" BCM mid length 5.56. I've heard a lot of good things about the Griffin Recce, particularly its mount is very good.
Just recently saw the Mystic X. I am very interested in building a 300BLK pistol AR as well, which is why the Mystic peaked my interest. Being able to cover several guns with 1 can would be a benefit for me, as I don't want to start dumping a ton of money into cans.
I don't really need full auto rating, I'm not doing mag dumps, just going to the range and training.

Any firsthand experience with either can? Opinions on which way to go?

The only suppressor I own is a Griffin SPR. The POI shift when taking it on an off is very consistent, and there isn't much blow back. It also performs very well in sound reduction as well. My gripe is how heavy it is. On a 18" or 16" barrel, having an extra 5-8oz hanging way out there is very noticeable.
Given my experience, I'd pick the shortest, lightest suppressor I could afford. Any multi-caliber thing would just be gravy. If you're looking at 5.56 Griffin cans, I'd suggest taking a look at the new Optimus.

Now that multi-caliber is more than just running 7.62 sized cans on 5.56 rifles, I see the value in it. But, don't get caught up in planning use for guns you don't own. By the time your stamp clears you could be in a totally different frame of mind. those extra ounces will stick around much longer than builds that never come to be.
