How much further can we push the envelope.

The firearms industry and creative entrepreneurs have been kicking the NFA in the nuts for the last couple years. Pistol braces, Angled grips and hand stops in place of VFGs. Binary Triggers and Bump stocks, and now the new non Rifled short barreled gun.

Of course this has just proven what we already knew, that the NFA is stupid and does nothing just like most gun control laws.

So how much further can we push this before they start pushing back either through legislative action or otherwise.

It is something I have really started to worry about. Despite early hopes this administration has shown it is not gun friendly so I don't expect help there, and one or two more shootings could easily push things against us.

The whole pushing the envelope thing can go two ways, so I'm always a little iffy on it. On one hand, it's a demonstration of the futility of the NFA laws, as you said. On the other hand, when the ATF realizes that people and companies are pulling a fast one on them, they get butt hurt, and then they start making up new regulations and definitions of what's what. Look at bump fire stocks, and the potential shit show that redefining what a "machine gun" is could possibly do. The Sig Braces almost lost us M855 rounds as the ATF tried to say it was now armor piecing pistol ammo. When the gun industry plays games, the ATF is not a good sport.

    That is exactly my concern.

Until Congress and the WH reign in BATFE's ability to "interperet" federal law, this will always be an issue. I personally find little incentive in pushing things this way under the current rules of the game.

It’s not like the folks at ATF don’t have Google

What makes you say this? Just curious.

My guess is no HPA (at one point "expected within first 100 days"), no Nationwide Carry...

Speaking for myself, as long as he's keeping the BATF*ckers in check and treating us with benign neglect (passive neutrality, rather than active hostility) I'm happy for the moment. Though we never HAVE heard him repudiate his former pro-AWB views written about in "The America We Deserve"... he's also smart enough to not knife us in the back until he's gotten what he wants out of the deal.

Potential turnpoints where I'd be more worried about a Blue Falconing:
    1. After 2018 midterms and new Congress sworn in, if it goes badly
    2. After 2020 in Lame Duck, if it goes badly
    3. After 2022 Midterms

So we have at least eight months or so of relative peace and Golden Opportunity at the Federal level... the real threat where we need to worry is in the State Legislatures, as more Blue and Purple States start drinking the Kalifornia Kool-aid. We NEED another Supreme Court justice, and Roberts to either be forced out in disgrace or figure out where he left his testicles... because the only thing that's going to stop the gun-grabbing Progfascists here in Left Coast Hell is when they get an unlubricated sodomization-in-every-possible-orifice by SCOTUS. (And I doubt even that will get the message through...)

I'm hoping by the end of President Pence's second term (January, 2033), the BATmen will be reduced to, "The Bureau of Smokes & Booze."

Libtards, like bad pennies, keep popping up though - one's bound to be elected again someday. THAT'S when the real problems will begin, because gummint re-hiring will kick into high gear again.

We should continue to push for freedom. Like football, it's no benefit to play defensive the whole game.
