I thought it was interesting because if a high value target like that was kidnapped and the demand was something absurd like that what would you do in that position? My instinct is of the too bad, so sad for her kind of thing but if you had pressure from the queen and basically the entire country it would be really difficult spot. There is no choice for the PM that ends well.
At the same time I understand why people think it was dumb and tasteless. I’m not going to rewatch that episode but there are absolutely others in the series I will and that I thought were brilliant.
Interestingly enough, this show is the only one on Netflix that I’ve noticed starts at the end when you go to watch it. With every other show when you click on it for the first time it starts you out at S1E1 but for Black Mirror it doesn’t. It might just be by coincidence but I’d bet it’s to get people to watch a different episode first to not get turned off from the start.
I got that too, but still wasn't enough for a "premise." It was more like a fleeting idea of little merit that they made into a TV episode. Reminded me a lot of when they recycled a 80's Twilight Zone episode into a full length movie called "The Box." The idea was strong enough for a TZ episode, but not an entire film.
And Amy Schumer should start doing BBW porn where she belongs.

Letter of resignation submitted and anyone who doesn't get it can FO. I also would have had enough sack to whack the advisor bitch who threatened my family if I didn't get it done, let her bone a pig. The entire premise was too absurd to seriously contemplate or accept, the writers wasted my time rather than make me think or ponder. It was actually dumber than White House Down and that was my previous "too stupid for words" experience.
And I think you are onto something with the default sequence on NF. They wanted to start me at Season 4 as well.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one
So I'm finally getting into Season Three. Episodes are better but still not completely sold on the show. I can see where "Fifteen Million Merits", "The Entire History of You" and "Nosedive" are cautionary tales of our modern tech age and as a result this generations default Twilight Zone.
Some episodes such as "Be Right Back" and "San Junipero" were genuinely interesting, but "Shut Up and Dance", "White Christmas", "White Bear" and "Men Against Fire" just fell mostly flat after the reveal. Maybe it's again generational, but they had less impact for me than Twilight Zone or even The Outer Limits in some cases.
