A while back Mr Gunsngear did a review of an A1 clone build he did using the Brownells barrel and other parts and to my surprise his example at least was stabilizing something like 68 or 69gr projectiles. No idea if that is overall representative of the Brownells barrels, but I was certainly surprised.

Brownells also sells an A1 profile barrel with a 1/7 twist as well, though I dunno if they are planning to release a complete rifle with that option or not.
I actually have one of the 1/7 barrels but haven't used it in a build yet, although I will nitpick about the fact that it doesn't exactly duplicate the dimensions of an M16A1 barrel.
The 1/9 AR15SPORT barrel I have in my complete A1 clone on the other hand matches the specs pretty much perfectly.

I was thinking more along the lines of an ear necklace. But, then people might think that is a bit much.

Personally, I'm hoping for build-kits and separate parts... if building the girlfriend a C7 or C8 goes forward, I know the Canucks use the CAR stock on 'em and those have been becoming a bit more challenging to find of late, at least the year or two I've been in this game. Yes, yes, laugh at the monkeyn00b trying to hang with the Cool Kids...

EDIT: Yuck, their XM177/CAR separate-part stock uses a crappy Commercial tube. So much for that...

I like them, especially the A1.

I suppose anything higher than 55grain is going to be pretty unstable?

    Original twist rate was 1/14...

What I hope for is the correct port doors for these models, but I am not holding my breath right now. None of the pics show them with the port doors closed. The 601 would have a large flat square pad like this.

The XM16E1, M16A1, and XM177E2 would have the small rectangular pad like this.

Does the XM have a plastic or metal stock?
