The TTSX are intended to retain weight with expansion.
Ballistic Silvertip, which is what I use now, does fragment as it states on the box.
Perhaps I did not give proper distinction between the two.
I have some 64 gr PP as well but lately I still use Winchester Ranger silvertip as it is more common and don't mind keeping some in my go bag.
Before the 70 grain brown tip was a thing, there were doorkickers scoring 77grain OTM off the snipers and SDM’s for an improvement in terminal effects over green tip out of 10.x” barrels. Probably still happens in units that don’t have brown tip.
Not saying its the best choice for home d, just that its a valid one.
Here's another one, "The AR15 is not accurate past 400 yards." I've had precision ARs that I was able consistently to get a steel plate rocking with very hit out at 800 yards. Better barrel, trigger and optics and competent shooter behind trigger with good match ammo. No worries. The only reason I did not take it further out than 800 yards is because that was the limit of the range I had available at the time.

Gel shots of the 5.56 77 SMK here: http://www.black-hills.com/shop/new-rifle-ammo/5-56mm/#. Nothing wrong with using that load at all.

That would do the trick, wouldn't it?
It would. It’s better than 193 or 855. But there’s better ammo for home/short ranges. Like brown tip.
To each their own but my DPX and Winchester Rangers were free and work well enough for my liking
