New to me - Taylor's & Co Smoke Wagon

I pretty much exclusively shoot semi-auto pistols. I've only owned one revolver - a S&W 586 6" barrel which I bought back in the 90's. But, after figuring out that I'm not going to shoot any new gun better than I do my Glocks, my interest in modern pistols started waning a couple of years ago.

I've always enjoyed a good western and liked western-style firearms, but given the choice I always spent my money on modern weapons. Recently, I just got the bug to get a western revolver and decided on an 1873 SAA-style revolver. I wasn't going to shell out the cash for a Colt, so I did some looking around and reading, and liked what Taylor's & Company had to offer. Taylor imports Uberti weapons from Italy and does their own bit of tuning on them.

I just picked up their 'Smoke Wagon' - http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/the-smoke-wagon.html in .357. As my first SAA-type revolver, I'm quite pleased with my purchase so far. Nicely finished with perfectly fitting grips, I'm going to enjoy putting some rounds down range. It certainly is a more deliberate action to eject and load one shell at a time, vs. slapping in a magazine, and strangely satisfying feeling.

    Here she is:

Classic design and lines - careful, they have a way of getting in the blood.

    Thanks for sharing.

    She's a beauty!
What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine…

Very nice. I like that Ubertis are often true to original design specs. Shoot and enjoy.

Quite a departure from self loading plastic and steel!
Good looking revolver. I'd heard Taylor & Co. offers some good reproductions of the mod. P Colt.
Now you need a "lever gun" to go with your hog leg.

I have an older USFA in .45 Colt that's fun.

    Thanks for the comments, fellas.

Gaijin, that USFA's a beaut! I already have my eye on a lever action rifle that will complement the revolver well: http://www.taylorsfirearms.com/long-...18-357mag.html

I sold most of my revolvers a few years ago. I just wasn't shooting them anymore, as I prefer semi-autos. I kept one, a USFA SAA in .45 Colt, with a 4 5/8 inch barrel. The Ubertis from Taylor's look damn nice, and if I had to choose an SAA today, that is where I would go.
