    Price check Trij ACOG 1.5x

My LGS has a lightly used Trijicon ACOG 1.5x [not sure of model number] rather small and seems to be meant for the carry handle of a AR15/16 and mounted to a flat top with the aid if a special mount. Nice condition, tritium seems active, few if any marks on the outside, has box and papers. Asking $450.00. Fair price?

I liked it, slightly clearer to my mildly astigmatism affected eyes than my Aimpoint and the 1.5x does help at distance.

Sounds like a pretty good price.

I would try to verify the age and that it isn't a fake. $450 wouldn't be a good deal if the tritium went tits up in 6 months.

True, but a fake won't have tritium illumination, and hands-on a fake should be very obvious. The fakes that get people are mostly the online sales.

OP: not sure if you've handled other ACOGs before, but the quality and ruggedness is pretty obvious hands on.

Two things. First, tritium doesn't die suddenly, it decays with a half-life. Unless the tritium actually leaked out, it will be dim for years before it's completely dark.

Second, even if the tritium was 100% dead (at 15+ years of age), you still have a very rugged prism sight that is illuminated in all but the darkest conditions. Not a bad deal for just over half the price of a new one.

I will add, the additional cost of Trijicon replenishing the Tritium if it had to be done would still ultimately cost you significantly less than a new ACOG. Plus Trijicon usually updates and repairs anything with your ACOG while it is in for Tritium service.

Agreed. But even if it's dead Trijicon charges $200-250 to replace it and it's still a slamming deal if it's real.

Are those good numbers? I have heard 4-500 thrown around.
