I shoot & carry Speer Gold Dot 124+P jhp's. Upon ordering more from a source different than my usual one..i see a different number on box.
The two numbers Ive seen now are 53617 & 23617. Might be more Im unaware of.
Whats the difference?

The obedient always think of themselves as virtuous rather than the cowards they really are.
20 round box vs. 50 round LE box perhaps?

AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand
Not sure where the confusion comes from but as others said it’s 20 round vs 50 round boxes. The 23617 is the 20 rnd box and the 53617 is the 50 rnd box. Speer’s website confirms this.
I can confirm this in a different caliber. For the 230-grain .45ACP GD's, 23966 is the 20's for commercial sale with Pittman-Robertson taxes, 53966 is the untaxed LE 50-pack. (Doesn't mean they CAN'T be sold commercial, just that they're on the hook for the taxes instead of Speer taking care of it IIRC. Long time since I looked at Pittman-Robertson and it wasn't very deep when I did, so my memory is probably shot to hell...)
