Trump directs Justice Dept to "ban all devices" like bump stocks

    Breaking news from AP:
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says he's signed a memo directing the Justice Department to propose regulations to "ban all devices" like bump stocks used in last year's Las Vegas massacre.
The president is making the announcement to curb the use of the rapid-fire devices during a ceremony recognizing bravery by the nation's public safety officers.
Trump is responding days after the shooting deaths of 17 people at a Florida high school. He's pointing to the need to propose regulations to ban the device that was used in the October shooting deaths of 58 people in Las Vegas.
White House officials say the president will be meeting with students, teachers and state and local officials to discuss ways of providing more school safety and address gun violence. Past efforts to address gun violence in Congress have failed.

I have never and will never own a bump stock(although I wish I purchased a few cases now) but feel good legislation that will do nothing but give the grabbers another inch.

Not the slightest bit surprising. Bump stocks, better background checks (better NICS system), and the gun show loophole are the low hanging fruit and the liberals finally found a step ladder. It will be interesting to see if that diverts them sufficiently. It probably will, but only until the next time. And there will be a next time.

I don't have a lot of faith they are going to be diverted much but like you said, even if they are it will pick right back up where it left off the next time accept they will be one leg up.

Looks like they are also discussing bumping the legal purchase age up to 21.

Anybody remember those exhilarating days about a year ago, we had a 2A-friendly POTUS and Congress, were going on the offensive, National Reciprocity was no longer a pipe dream, the antis' forces in shambles, suppressor deregulation within the first 100 days, no more important bans, maybe even the entire NFA being scrapped? Oh, back then boys, we dared to dream big, didn't we? And why not, the world seemed to be our oyster.
And just look at us now, merely trying to hold on to what we already have yet again.
