Then just make a "donation" to the NRA without joining... You can do this and not give your phone number. Sh*t, p*ss, or STFU. Sorry.

Right now, joining. Bump their membership numbers up.

In my experience, I have been much less likely to get incessant inbox SPAM from a donation to the ILA than to the NRA, although for signing up for either, I do use a throw-away email address that goes to an account that I never use and never check. Last I looked at that account, I had thousands of spam emails from the NRA since I terminated membership, about 6 years ago. Comparatively very few from the ILA.

Additionally, a donation to the NRA goes to several of their various programs, such as youth shooting/hunting etc. Those are fine, but right now I'm more interested in donating to their lobbying and legislative war chest than educational programs, and that's what the ILA does.

Yeah, I can take care of the phone calls and spam. I don't know why everybody hasn't figured out they can create a free Gmail account for signing up and they don't need to provide a legit phone number.

You're right. The ILA seems more aligned to my goals right now. Though I do wonder if signing up with the NRA creates a better "strength in numbers" representation than just an anonymous donation. I'll do one or the other but probably both as well as donating to the GOA.

I like the NRA ILA. They seem to get the grassroots action with contact your representative e-mails which will take you to the proper representatives. I like the convenience of that. The GOA does that too, and it makes contacting your representatives a breeze.

I'm a member of both the NRA and GOA. I like the GOA's harder stance, and wish the NRA would dig in hard too. As stated more eloquently than I can by Ned and SteyrAUG, the NRA is the big one that gets the lefts panties in a wad because they know that the NRA speaks for a hell of a lot of Americans. So, as much as I piss and moan about them sometimes, they still do a pretty damn good job.

    Agreed.
I'm signed up to get the GOA emails and contact rep. links. I'm just not a member. I'd like the NRA to take a harder stance too sometimes but I wish MAC and GOA would stop going out of their way to attack the NRA. We're a splintered enough group as it is.

Yeah, MAC has been a bit reactionary and quick to jump the gun. I appreciate what he’s trying to do but needs a larger strategy. The NRA and GOA have a symbiotic relationship. Both are needed, IMO.

I've been a NRA Patron Life Member for over 30 years and made my now 10 y.o. grandson a Life Member when he was 9 months old. So I am going to go along with this idea I found (and quote) on another gun board:

"The anti-gunner dweebs are planning their "March for our Lives" on 03/24/18. I saw a Facebook post of someone proposing a money bomb for the NRA on that day for us to fight back. The NRA has 5 million members, if everyone gave just $1 that would still be $5 million in one day. I'm putting myself down for $20. Who's with me? If your principles don't allow you to donate to the NRA, then donate to the GOA or whatever group of your choosing. However I would urge you to think about the fact that, whenever the SHTF, the NRA is the organization that the Left spends all its energy demonizing and smearing. They wouldn't expend all that effort if they didn't fear the crap of the NRA.

Gun owners need to work and have families, we don't have time to march like they do. However, we can click through some money to our pro-gun organizations. What do you guys say? Spread the word.

I'm good for $20, how about you?"

    I plan on giving $100 on 3/24/18

I just sent them another 100. Now is not the time to knit-pick.
Let those who are fond of blaming and finding fault, while they sit safely at home, ask, ‘Why did you not do thus and so?’I wish they were on this voyage; I well believe that another voyage of a different kind awaits them.”
