And so it begins - NEW GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION AND UPDATES HERE

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/ho...rticle/2650087

The bill prohibits the “sale, transfer, production, and importation” of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. Additionally, the legislation bans the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic shotguns with features such as a pistol grip or detachable stock, and ammunition feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds.
    So pretty much everything semi-auto.

Now, what we need to emphasize to people is that their Marlin Model 60 is a semi-auto with a greater than 10 round capacity can no longer be bought nor can they sell them or give them as a Christmas present to their family members.

Their dandy little Ruger Mark IV or Browning Buckmark squirrel hunting handguns, that's gone too.

We need them to see that the Anti's don't plan on just stopping with the "AK-15".

Please make sure you call your reps and make sure your FUDD friends see the real plan.

    ETA:

It isn't as bad as portrayed above. Apparently the media can't even get the bills they support right.

I should have known. Actual bill posted below.

Doesn't change the fact that we all know that is what they are going for. They showed their hand in their description.

This is DOA and everyone knows it. Although it is nice to see them show their true colors.

    Not surprised, really.

For years, as these events have happened, we've argued that attempting another AWB targeted at ARs was pointless because nearly any centerfire semi-auto is functionally capable of the same thing.

    They listened.

At least now we can argue on actual merits of the principle rather than silly cosmetic nuances.

I honestly hope you're correct, but I personally don't believe in a "sure thing". I know you didn't use that term, just want to be clear on that. As I posted elsewhere, the continued attention this is getting from and being pushed by the Media isn't normal. Maybe I need to buy tinfoil, but part of me wonders if they are continuing to push things in hopes of another mass shooting so they can use it as further "proof" that "evil" guns need to go away. Our elected officials are only human, I could see some waffling in order to garner votes/funds and this proposal having a chance. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

As you pointed out, it is nice to see them once again show their true colors.

No tinfoil. Seems like every time the Left or government needs a distraction from bad for Obama or Clinton, or justification to pass a bill, there’s a mass shooting to justify it all. Wasn’t there an antiterrorism bill stuck in Congress when Oklahoma City happened?

That is like blaming a dam for the rain. I think that they are always pressing this issue at some level so they can leverage faster. It is also part of the 3 yards, 3 yards, 3 yards; punt strategy. They are always pressing while we seem focused on Hail Mary passes or nothing. When it rains, they catch it. They are also ver adept at using whatever it put infront of them. Whatever the event, they twist it their way. What rational person would look at the Parkland case, knowing what we know now, and decide this is the best case to move gun control forward. They know that statistically, they probably won't get another 'shot' at this before midterms, so they had to run their 2 minute drill that they have for school shootings.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

No is always the answer to more gun control.

Enforce the NCIS background check system, make sure people who should be reported are reported, etc? Sure.

Any other chicken$hit ban on weapons, magazines, or other feel good laws - NO is the only correct answer, because the Left has proven their desire to ban firearms. Not today, not tomorrow, but eventuallly.

First semi autos. Then when some fool uses a pump shotgun for a crime, those go.

Then a guy shoots up somewhere with two revolvers. Ok, lets just take them away.

How about bolt action rifles from a distance? Ok, those too.

Leftis gun control never ends until they take them all.

Just imagine yourself as a Jew trapped in Nazi occupied Europe.

Think of how nice an AR would feel in your hands in the above situation.

But Yoni, this is the USA, bad things will never happen here.

Funny, Germany was the same way prior to the rise of Hitler.

Before anyone get's all worked up. I really don't think we will see such a thing in my life time in the USA.

Which is why I will never give up my guns, just in case.

By reading the bill, they listed every version and every manufacture of the AR-15 type rifle and every version and manufacturer of the AK-47 style rifle. Although they do have a grandfather clause. The bill states that this only applies to us, not to States, departments, agencies within or law enforcement personnel whether on of off duty, or purposes other than law enforcement.

So, apparently the sale, possession, importing, transfer, ownership of any AR & AK style rifle by name, or any weapon that is semi-automatic and has:

    Threaded barrel
    pistol grip
    barrel shroud
Removable, folding, collapsible or telescopic butt stock
Can accept of detachable box magazine capable of carrying more than 10 rounds.
utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing a cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and to chamber the next round
    a forward grip
    grenade launcher or rocket launcher
ability to accept belt fed ammunition
80% would likely fall under manufacture

    A semi-automatic pistol that can:
accept detachable box magazine capable of carrying more than 10 rounds
    threaded barrel
    muzzle devise

A semi-automatic version of ANY fully automatic version of weapon
Pistol versions of any fully automatic versions of weapons also pistol versions of any named weapon and such shall be banned from sale, transfer, manufacturing, importing and possession.

    https://cicilline.house.gov/sites/ci...an_of_2018.pdf

Read this, like 16 pages of just manufactures and models that will be restricted.

This bill does not pertain to any firearm that is manually operated, operated by pump action, lever action or bolt action or otherwise rendered inoperable.

All grandfathered firearms will have to be subject to background check, registration and proof of ownership. Or compensation to those who surrender firearms under the buyback program of 1968. If sale of grandfathered firearms, there will be a 14 day wait after background check.
