Need help deciding on brace for AR pistol...

So I'm building a 10.5" AR pistol in 5.56mm. the upper is done, besides some backup sites, and I have 90% of the lower setup and in hand. I cannot decide on a brace/buffer setup. So I'm looking for opinions.

Choice 1: SB PDW Brace with Geissele super 42 braided spring and buffer.

Choice 2: vltor A5 pistol kit and a SBM4 brace.

I'm back and forth on the pluses and minuses of both. Can u guys give me some opinions or a third option I haven't considered yet?

    Thank in advance.

If you're looking at non-folding and need compact, PDW+S42. If you might be interested in adding a folder, go Vltor+SBM4. Bonus, if you care about looks the latter makes things look more Mk 18-ish... and you can slip a mag-carrier pouch inside the brace.

Kool idea about the mag pouch ... hadn't thought of that. I'm not really going all MK18 clone but I agree the same looks more the part.

Pouch only takes 20s and 30s though; since I'm running a 40, I just have a bare mag tucked in the middle so it can freely slide back and forth as needed. (Since mine's a Briefcase Carry rig under construction, I tend to be heavy on on-board spare mags in case I don't have time to grab a carrier or vest responding to an Active Shooter.

Not sure about active shooters, I'm just a plain old civie dad. I carry a Walter PPS M2 every day, that should get me back to my car. This is going to be a truck gun/range toy/bug-out/bug-in gun. I have a bag and sling already I figured a few pmags and maybe a D60 and I'll be good to go.

I have a 8.5" 300blk pistol with the shockwave blade. So I just tested the 556 upper on my blkout lower this weekend. She worked flawlessly. She was shooting decent groups with green tips (2596 fps) and with my 62 gr Hornady hanloads (2605 fps).

I'm just an average joe, building mainly for Bugout/Get-Home stuff... just that I'm surrounded by the kind of Human Ostriches these dirtbags love to target, and being around Seattle when the Progtards start losing their shit For Real I expect some serious mass unrest. If you can wait for it, the new SBA3 works on a regular old carbine or A5 RE. Looks much better than the thordsen.

When I first saw the SBM4 I loved it, until I bought one and mounted it. It felt fine and worked just looked big and bulky to me. I added a PDW brace and know it feels right, I'd spend the extra and get the PDW if that's what you really want. I've seen the SB's for $220 but I get a military discount at most online vendors. I found this Maxim with JP spring for $350 shipped and decided to spend the extra.

Yeah I decided on the SBPDW, it should be here Thursday. Also went with a Geissele super 42 spring and buffer. Hopefully that will be a decent combo
