    Online tactical training?

    Hi,

Im new here so I might ask a stupid question
Are there any good online tactical training courses available when you are beginner?

I have started with airsoft and never had any military training so im wondering if there are some online courses available in general tactical training.

Sure there are, for 100.00 a week I'll send you a daily article and a quizz on Saturday JK

Most folks go the book route, one that I recommend is Green Eyes Black Rifles by Kyle Lamb. (good tactical primer)

Some folks also recommend AR-15 Skills and Drills by Tiger McKee. I have the book and essentially flipped through it, I liked Lamb's book better.

Google 'ar15 training books' and I'm sure you'll find more.

If you are looking beyond manipulating and shooting like a porn star, the first book I would read is The Gift of Fear by Gavin DeBecker. As far as I'm concerned it is 'the' primer for beginning to raise your situational awareness.

I don't follow blogs, but every now and again I'll drop by https://tacticalprofessor.wordpress.com/ to see what he has to say, every once and awhile there is a gem.

Google is your friend, good luck.

Tim Kennedy has two online only training videos. They aren’t free. No idea if they’re worth it.

Claude Werner, aka the Tactical Professor, is a great resource. As is Tom Givens, another member here and superb trainer. I have trained with both and recommend their newsletters very highly.

John McPhee has Gunfighter University, which I am about to join. He does diagnostics of your shooting videos, which makes a great deal of sense to me, and has been very useful to friends of mine.

http://panteao.com has a lot of videos and stuff, based off of the subscription model. Lots of big name instructors have produced video at Panteao, although they've have some issues with integrity when it comes to how they interact with instructors, and the owner has also had past issues.

Mike Seeklander runs American Warrior Society (https://www.americanwarriorsociety.com), which is suppose to also offer online stuff.

I've seen some of the older Panteao videos, which are neat (a lot like the old Magpul Dynamics video), never touched the American Warrior Society stuff.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I’ll give the advice I got here when I asked a similar question: Take a class with a respected instructor.

That advice and the class I took were both well worth what I paid.

With that said, I enjoy learning remotely, and I think that in many ways it is very helpful for me. I learned close to zero in the first day of class, which involved field stripping, etc, BUT... It was still worth confirmation of what I thought I knew about that.

Yes that's true and haven't seen anybody in a long time--including original OP of this thread--disagree that taking a live class is superior to video/online experience.

But the question he asked: "Are there any good online tactical training courses available when you are beginner?"

We have people ask variations of that question fairly often, so it seems relevant and realistic to try to help. Live classes are better, but the two don't have to be mutually exclusive. It sounds like you'd agree with that. When life, work, finances, whatever, gets in the way, quality online or video instruction is a heckuva lot better than just going to the range and plinking away blindly, IMO. There's some pretty good quality stuff out there now, better than there used to be. I benefited at an earlier stage from the Magpul "Art of the Dynamic Carbine" series that I linked to but it's starting to get a bit dated. Today, if I were looking for online stuff, I'd definitely be checking out some of those other links and the Chris Sajnog stuff looks pretty interesting, though you have to subscribe and realistically, I'll probably take more classes rather than do that.
