.380 or .32 acp AR pistol?

I don't know if the 9mm mags would feed .380, and I don't know what could be used to feed .32.

    The appeal would be:

-Less recoil from lighter bullets and lighter carrier

    -All bullets would be subsonic

    Has this ever been done?

I suspect .380 would feed just fine from a 9mm mag, for range toy purposes. I think the only mods necessary would be a shorter chamber, lighter buffer and spring than 9mm.

If the goal is subsonic velocities, in a short enough barrel (check bbti) 9mm 147’s are subsonic, even if not labeled as such.

    Right.

I guess the only benefit would be less recoil, a little lighter, and it would be a little quieter suppressed. (Less powder/pressure)

An MPX would be a wiser path. AR ergonomics, no Blow back operation, no marriage to a weak cartridge.

There's a reason why full sized .32 and .380 platforms faded away.

I honestly don’t see the attraction for either in a carbine. Ammo is more expensive and 9mm recoil in an AR carbine/pistol is almost non existent anyway.

I've already got one of those. Love it.

Something a little bigger could not only have low recoil and be light, but also have a proper stock, long handguard, and capable of easy optic attachment.

I found 9mm recoil in an AR much greater than that of .223 and very disappointing. That plus the effort it seems to take to get them to run well keeps me from having one.

Been awhile since I have shot a 9x19 AR, but I thought it had more muzzle flip than 5.56.

Going to go out on a limb and guess that if 9mm reliability is off putting them .32/.380 will be even more so.

    Your probably right.
