I just got back from South Africa where I used the 212 gr. 30-caliber ELD-X in a .300 Weatherby to take Kudu, Blue Wildebeest and Black Wildebeest. These bullets performed very well on all three animals. The Kudu was hit at 335 yards broadside with a slight quarter. The bullet entered just behind the right shoulder, penetrated completely and exited the left shoulder. The bull ran about 25 yards before falling. The Black was taken with two shots- the first was a double lung at 210 yards, the second to stop the animal at about 230 through both shoulders. The Blue was hit at 190 in the chest while facing dead on and the bullet broke the left shoulder. This was the only bullet that did not exit and unfortunately the skinners forgot to retrieve it. I would’ve loved to see how it mushroomed and measured it’s retained weight. I’m continually impressed with these and will compare them to the Berger 215 gr. Hybrids in a long-range .300 WinMag which is in the works.

The load that I used with these 212’s in 74.0 grains of RL23 in Norma brass with a Federal 215 Match primer. I’m getting 2875 FPS out of 26” LAW M704.

Thanks, and it was. The PH’s were impressed enough that I think they’ll test them. They tend to favor Game Kings for all-around hunting and Accubonds and Barnes as a tougher option.

Congratulations on a great adventure. Nice to see that you were well aware of what was going on during the festivities...
