Good 45 Colt DA revolver?

If a single action is a possibility, you can do no better than Freedom Arms as far as mechanical strength and precision. Here is my .454 with .45 ACP auxiliary cylinder.

No military gun collection would be complete without the Smith & Wesson Model 1917, along with Colt's DA .45-ACP — both became known to the Army brass and accuracy. Go get one

My uncle gave me a SA 45 Colt.
I have a marlin Lever action.

To round it out, I was looking at a DA.

So far, the Ruger seems pretty cool.

Solid, will,also shoot 45 ACP with clips.

I will probably go in that direction.

My first DA revolver was a S&W model combat masterpiece I bought in the 1980s.

There must have been something wrong with it. The trigger was so bad I sold it. That and a Star BKM are the only two guns I ever sold.

I did hate a FA 91 so bad, I bought a PTR receiver and had it rebuilt.
I did have a SEARs Roebuck inherited bolt action 12 Gauge that was deemed unsafe and sent the bolt in.

I can’t think of any other guns I sold or got rid of.

But the S&W left such a bad taste I have never bought another one of their revolvers.

The LGS sorts said a lot either get chest type holsters,
Or a Galco DAO.

The Galco would let me strong side hip when walking my trails, and offside crossdraw for comfort when on the Gator or ATV.

I prefer chest holsters, especially those from Alaskan Guide Creations. A good chest holster allows easy and ready access but I’ve never felt that the gun was in the way of their tasks. I’ve backpacked, hiked, hunted, picked berries and split wood with this setup. I haven’t used the Galco DAO, but other products of theirs that I’ve used have been of good quality.

The Smith & Wesson 25-7 and 25-8 are the best 45 Colt revolvers.

If you’re set on a new gun, S&W makes a Model 25 in the Classic series.

My favorite holster I had for my 5.5" Redhawk was a Dick Murray Hunter Holster. It is a unique thumb-break flap holster that allows strong side and offside crossdraws, it protects the revolver extremely well while still allowing fast access and is very well made. Mine is an older model without the current shoulder strap option and was $150 cheaper.
