Flat or Recessed Bolt on a Defiance Action

Pros or Cons? not looking to decide which is necessarily better? just "end user" experience etc. Thanks

The recessed bolt nose is what you will find on a Rem 700, it is part of their "3 Rings of Steel" slogan.

Defiance is one of the few top custom action makers whom I would use that still provide this option.

The flat bolt nose is what just about every top custom action maker uses when the action will be a repeater.

All of my custom actions are either Flat or Coned (coned are all on single shot competition rifles, don't really pertain to this topic).

If you like/believe the 3 rings of steel thing the go for the recessed.

If it were me, I would just get another Flat Nose Bolt.

Call the folks at Defiance, great group of people who will steer you in the right direction.

+1 on asking the people who manufacture a product

they know what works, but often offer services or options due to popularity even if it doesn't work best for their product
