I started in 10mm with a Glock G40 mos. Out of the box it’s set up for hotter loads. Hope to get a 10mm 1911 or P220 one day.
I know a lot of people say if you don’t shoot hot 10mm you’re wasting your time. I personally like having the option of getting cheap 10mm for just a buck or two over .45acp and still being able to run some Underwood out of the same gun.

The biggest downside is the few choices in handguns. Glock, EAAWitness and the 1911s seem to be the most common semi auto loaders. I can get an EAA Witness in 10 mm for under $500 but the cheapest 10mm 1911s are the RIAs for $600 and the Ruger for $800, everything else is a grand or more.

I've noticed that 10mm ammo comes in three flavors, more or less:

    1. Full-power hot loads that mimic the original Norma. 700+ foot pounds energy.
    2. Mid-level loads. 600+_ foot pounds.
    3. Duplicates of .40 S&W loads.

I think #3 is a waste of time, why'd I buy a Springfield Operator to shoot those? I will start out loading around #2 performance and see how it goes. I have a powder that'll work, and when the slugs and brass arrive, I'll get to work on it.

I think 10mm is a fun round, I got a Glock 40 MOS and it’s a sweet shooter. Still trying to find an RMR for a reasonable price to mount on it. I say go for it

    Buy a G20. You can't do much better than 15+1 10mm. I love mine.

I know you are working on the reload set-up but have you purchased any factory loads and shot it? I had some underwood loads (an fmj plinker) that I liked through my G20 and carried one of their mid power Gold dot type loads. I loved shooting it, didn't find recoil excessive and...... sold it. LOL. Not sure why. I guess I decided I don't "need" it. I never even bought the stuff to load for it like I usually do. I would have one again. Always considered the 1911 and then the Sig 220 to be sexier, though. Let us know!

Just quoting since folks seem to miss this.... Although, a glock ALSO isn't a bad idea.

This thread is relevant to me as I’ve been a little OCD over the past week or so about getting a Glock 10mm.

I’m leaning towards the Glock 40 MOS since I plan to use it primarily for hunting here in MO during our “alternative methods” deer season.

Question: If I get a Glock 40 MOS can I later get a Glock 20 slide that will work on the Glock 40 MOS?
