That is more than I ever wanted to know about ALICE. Nice find though! It is really interesting to see just how long ALICE was used and the incredible changes to LBE that have happened since the 1990s.

We used a lot of ALICE in boot camp in 2001. When I got to the fleet we were givin MOLLE gear except for a few pieces like canteen covers and E-tool carriers that were ALICE and we had to use the MOLLE-ALICE transition pieces with them. Even then there were a few guys that used the old belt and Y harness setup in the field. I always liked the M-16 vest/carrier that works with the AlICE belt. The other piece of gear I like but never used is the CFP-90 pack. To me it is a much better pack the either the AlICE or MOLLE packs and for the life of me I can’t figure out why the Marines or Army never used it more.
