Question Pros of getting an upper with only a thread protector

    I want this:

What are the Pros and Cons of only a thread protector?
I am thinking it would not be a problem since I can always add a muzzle device after.

Meh, not much “advantage” to be had. An A2 birdcage and crush washer probably cost less than the thread protector and offer pretty good functionality in the meantime.

    I want a War Comp.
The upper is not available with that from the factory. So, i want to get the thread protector version in the mean time and then install the War Comp later.

I am inferring that he was suggesting the cage as a temporary md.

    Yes, I agree.

I should have mentioned that the end game is to put on a War Comp.

I guess, in that case there is nothing wrong with getting an Upper with only the thread protector since it's only temporary.

Does it cost less than an upper with an A2?

Unless they put Rockset on the A2, it’s as easy to take off as a thread protector and acts as a flash hider (obviously) until your Warcomp shows up, and provides a spare A2 if you need one for some reason.

No criticism of the Warcomp, I have one on a Colt M4A1 SOCOM II and like it a lot as a hybrid device.

No pros, no cons, it just protects the threads.

I gotta ask.. Not trying to derail the thread but what makes that a $1,650 upper?
