I see OP is banned now, shock.

However, I have first hand experience with this very question.

A few years ago, a cop buddy was looking to buy his first carry gun. He asked us what to buy, we all said Shield. He went to the gunstore and got talked into the Taurus. We didnt ridicule him, but encouraged him to really put it through its paces. Literally first range trip it wont function. He brings is back, they tell him the truth about the gun and offer to either send it in or buy it back. He has a Shield now and loves it.

I sold my Shield for a G43 because I'm weird. The Shield is a damn near perfect carry gun, every one should have one.

Never owned a Taurus, never will. Cant see why I would.

What gun shop is this that is doing the following:

    1) Recommending guns that they know are crappy
    2) Not telling a LEO about the blue label program

I think most retail stores push the merchandise with the highest margins.
In my experience most gun shop counter workers either:
    1. Dont know and dont care to know.
    2. Push what they have (or last saw on a magazine cover) as the best and only option.

Garretsons in Greeley Colorado. I loathe them for many reasons.

Up to the gun shop if they want to participate in the first responder programs.

    I've had both.

I was given the Taurus 111 free by a relative. It was poorly built, big problems after about 500 rounds, slide didn't fit right on frame. It literally went out with the trash. I sold the magazines.

I rely on the 9mm Shield every day in the Big City.

    End of story.
