Thanks for posting the pics. I have my name on the waiting list at my FFL for this carbine.

Noticed the serial number prefix is CR and not LE. This seems to be normal for this run and some other LE lines. I could care less but some folks will have a aneurism it’s not an LE s/n. Seems hit and miss on the C marked BCG. Mine was not.

Can you confirm with me the front sight base is not F marked? My Colt SOCOM upper I purchased through G&R was not F marked but it mic’d out as a proper F base height. I was told Colt is not F marking their FSB anymore.

    Some notes:

    Lower roll mark is fantastic.
    No "C" on the BCG
NO cage code on the charging handle.
Huge gouge on the non-ejection upper where it meets the receiver extension. Classic Colt - not going to address.
Has a Ton of oil on it, which makes me think someone other than a union Colt employee assembled it.
Came with assorted rail panels. My 2017 Socom's did not not.

I bought 2 of the 2017 SOCOMs, but this will be my only 2018.

Are they still putting the H2 buffer in it, or did they sacrifice that as well?

So, why produce rifles that will disappoint their base? Does it really cost that much to address markings, etc.?

The rollmark is great. I’m pleasantly surprised to see them offer that.

Thanks for posting pics! If you want to get rid of the picatinny logo on your Matech sight, hit it with some aluma black.

How are these different from the 2013 M4A1's from Colt?

The barrel length with the perm attached muzzle device on the new one is overall 16". The older gun has a 16" barrel and then add the length of a muzzle device and is removable. I'll take some pics of both when I'm home next week.

IIRC, the later production 2013's had a Troy rail instead of the earlier Knight's rail. There was some grumbling over that.

They also changed the serial numbers from LE to CR on the new rifle.
