When I get home this weekend I will roll and mic some of my brass from my Mk23. Will let you know if I see the same raised area you are.

I got some cerrosafe in from Brownells today and just poured a cast of the chamber. Sure enough I have a variance of about 0.020” in the chamber right where the case split. I can rotate the mold 90 degs and get 20 thou difference in my measurement. I’m going to mail it off tomorrow and include the slug so they can use it to help them diagnose the issue.
I’ll post some pics shortly

This picture shows the high spot on a few factory new federal cases. I rolled them in ink with the case rim hanging off the ink pad.

This is 180 degs from the high spot

You can see discoloration on one wall of the chamber, and these pictures jive with the measurements I took off my chamber cast.
I took these measurements at exactly the same distance down from the case mouth. This variation holds down to roughly the spot where I had the cases split.

If I measure the hump I have in the brass it is roughly 0.015-0.020”

Great pics, looks like HK just needs to send you a barrel. Do you know if a replacement barrel for the 23 is drop in?
My most recent 2018 HKs have all been hit or miss for QC. Blasphemy i know, but that seems to be on par with newer models. HKpro forums have alot of issues cropping up with new pistols that have never been seen before as well
Aren't the barrels serial numbered? If so, I'd demand (politely) that they serial number the new barrel. If they can't do that, demand that they replace the pistol.
My experience is the accuracy of HK pistols is mostly disappointing. My 1993 USP40 shoots acceptably for a defensive firearm, but the groups are larger than most of my other pistols. My USP9 Tactical accuracy is poor in comparison to my other pistols. I realize that reliability is more important than inherent accuracy, but I have plenty of pistols that are 100% reliable and are significantly more accurate than either.
Good point on the serial number. I would expect it to be OEM to the make, series...
My experience on their pistols is exactly opposite of yours. Started with P7’s in the 80’s, ending with VP9sk that is now edc.
OP: the MK23’s my friends have span early and late guns.... accuracy has been fantastic across the board, which is the only reason I chimed in on the thread.

To your point, my brother in law has a USP 45 that shoots groups about half the size of my USP40's groups. It made him think that he was a better shot than me, until we swapped guns.
