    Thinking of getting a suppressor

I want to get a suppressor for my ars. Sound reduction is the biggest thing I am after. Which ones would you guys recommend, and what should I look for in a suppressor? Thanks

So I should go with a 30cal instead of one for 556?

    I do have a 700 5r I wouldn't mind suppressing as well.

I also say the SiCo Omega.

Especially since they are doing buy a rifle can get a pistol can for free.

Omega for rifle and a Octane for pistols.

I run my Omega on AR’s as well as my bolt action. Sounds good to me.

if theres even a thought of suppressing a .30 cal gun then yes, get the .30 cal can. Sandman's are only .30 cal and seem to be quite popular.
AQ planned for years and sent their A team to carry out the attacks, and on Flight 93 they were thwarted by a pick-up team made up of United Frequent Fliers. Many people look at 9/11 and wonder how we can stop an enemy like that. I look at FL93 and wonder, "How can we lose?". -- FromMyColdDeadHand

SiCo is doing an impressive buy one get a lesser can free. Not there best sellers for free but still worth tipping the scales in favor of SiCo.

30 cal cans on a 556 gun is bigger and heavier than ideal, but they work.

Since you mention sound as your main need, the SIG SRD762Ti (DT) or TBAC Ultra 9 6.5 (QD/DT) would be a couple of the best options if you're looking for titanium silencers for sound reduction. Usually titanium isn't recommended on ARs because if you get the silencer over ~800 deg F it makes the titanium far more susceptible to particle erosion and white sparking out the front of the silencer. It's just much easier to get the silencer that hot with a semi auto than a bolt gun. Don't go above ~800 deg, no problems. If it gets too hot let it cool down before resuming shooting.

If you're looking for a non-titanium option the Dead Air Sandman L (QD), Rugged Surge (QD), or Spewar 762 (QD), or Surefire Genesis (DT) would be good. Maybe the YHM Resonator (QD) but there isn't much info on that yet.

Your barrel threads will determine whether or not a direct thread 7.62 silencer is even an option since they're all threaded 5/8X24 instead of 1/2X28. If you get a 7.62 silencer you'll have to get one with a QD that has a 1/2X28 mount option, which I'm sure most if not all of the QDs I've mentioned do.

@paco - what is the lightest direct thread 556 suppressor that can attain 135dB at the shooters ear?

Not sure there's anything currently on the market that does that consistently that could also be called light. Maybe that NG2 MaxFlow can or some OSS variant.

Thanks - I would consider a sub 16oz to be light. I have seen it mentioned the Omega 300 is about 14oz in the direct thread mode
