Latest build is a 6.8 SPC for hunting. 60 rounds down range and she shoots great. If the shooter was better it would shoot sub moa groups. I will get there. It has been ten years since I shot a rifle regular.
Build is as follows:
ZRO Delta upper receiver with Milspec dust cover and FA
Bison Armory 18" SPR barrel
Grendel Hunter handguard and midlength gas tube and low pro gas block
A2 flash hider that came with the barrel
Surplus Ammo Nitride BCG
PSA Safe/Fire Lower, update: new lower, Anderson lower.
TPS lower build kit with a TPS Enhanced Milspec Trigger
Strike Industries Fang trigger Guard
Milspec buffer tube and buffer, 6 position, from Joeboboutfitters.com
Magpul MOE stock in stealth gray
Magpul MOE-K grip in stealth gray
Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40 scope
UTG Accu-Sync 1" High Profile 50mm Offset Picatinny Rings, Matte Black
Most of the guys I know use the 6.8 for hunting and some for self defense. For me, it will be a hunting rifle for deer, hogs and coyotes. Back up my 556/223 self defense rifle. That was my first custom build. I built both of these in the last three months. Still getting the 556/223 tuned to shoot better. Haven't found a load it likes. It tends to spray the rounds at distance. Really good in close. It also has open sights, MBUS Magpul. Needs a red dot. That is on the short list of things to purchase. I probably should have bought a better barrel for it, but, budget sometimes dictates the finished product.
Just an update. This one shoots very well. It is very good out to 200 yards. 1-1.5 inch groups. As far as I have a range to shoot it on. Deer season starts first week of December for me, so we shall see how she does. There has been one adjustment made to the build list for it, it now has an Anderson lower. The particular PSA I got was a little sloppy on some of the specs. Everything else is the same, just a different lower. Happy holidays and happy shooting and hunting!
